Letter From The Manager

Although 2016 marked my second full year as General Manager and my 29th year with TMLP, it often feels as though the journey has only just begun. Each day brings a new sense of purpose as we move forward in an industry which is facing change, not only in the way we generate and use our power, but in the way we as an industry do business.

Today's utilities must deal with change; change in technology, in state and federal regulations, and in customer needs and expectations. As a public power utility, TMLP is owned by the customers, the very people who rely on us every day to provide electricity and internet service to their homes and businesses. They are what drive us forward and are the reasons why we are committed to deliver low-cost, reliable power while being cognizant of our responsibility to continue to practice good environmental stewardship.

TMLP strives to take a leadership role in the industry when it comes to environmental stewardship. Our energy portfolio has included "green" energy for many years, long before federal and state regulations set mandates that required a diverse mix of renewable energy sources. Our four solar farms and our distributed generation project, set to go online in the second quarter of 2017, are just two examples of how TMLP continues to lead the way in changing times. We expect that our community solar farm will be up and running in 2018. The addition of the community solar farm will mean that TMLP will have more solar field capacity than some utilities have total load. This is certainly something of which our customer/owners can be proud.

Within our own utility, we met change straight-on in 2016 by streamlining operations, succession planning and reorganization. This means that we are better able to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers, providing them with greater efficiency, enhanced customer service, and access to programs and on-line services.

Amid these changes, TMLP's financial health, goals and customers' needs and expectations will remain at the forefront of every decision we make as we continue to lead the way in a changing environment.
